Simon Clayton
Partner - Political Risk and Credit Solutions

Simon is a Partner in our Financial Lines team, focusing on political risk and credit solutions.
Prior to joining McGill and Partners, Simon worked at Marsh Ltd for five years as a Senior Vice President UK Credit Specialties Placement Leader, with ExCom responsibility for working with Marsh client segments and specialities, direct and wholesale. His focus was arranging political risk and credit programmes for global corporate and commodity traders. During Simon’s tenure at Marsh, he also held senior relationship roles across other lines of insurance including credit, cargo, charterers’ liability and captive management. Before his move to Marsh Ltd, Simon was a Senior Partner Divisional ExCom and Americas Leader at JLT Ltd for over 20 years. He was responsible for direct and wholesale client growth, B.D and leading RFPs. Furthermore, he focused on political risk and structured solutions for power, energy and commodities global SRO across multinational lines. From 1996 to 1998, Simon worked as a North America Property Broker at Lambert Fenchurch and has also joined the British army in a Short Service Commission – Captain from 1992 to 1996.
If Simon was not working for McGill and Partners, he would be working in his garden, creating and building new objects.
